![]() What do you mean my stalkers are outside?! The journey to accompany "the snow ostriches to the holy steppes ", where they reproduce, will see Kate travel across lands both enchanting and desolate, experiencing both wonderful and dangerous adventures with her pursuers hot on her heels. To help repay their kindness, and because they're united by a 'common enemy', Kate decides to join the nomadic tribe in one of their more unusual ancient traditions. Fortunately, she gets discovered by a caravan of the Youkol people, the same Inuit-like race from the previous game, who take her in. A sequel arrived a few years later, picking up where its predecessor left off, where Kate, having finally found Hans, decides to join him on his quest to find the aforementioned legendary mammoths, on a long-winded journey on board a clockwork train, winding through the snow-covered landscapes.įast-forward twelve years, and Syberia 3 opens as series protagonist Kate Walker finds herself adrift on a makeshift craft, close to death, somewhere in the vast Syberian snow plains. But finding Hans is harder than she anticipated, as for most of his life, he's been out trying to track down the illusive mammoths - and in order to find Hans, she'll need to follow his trail. ![]() However, upon discovering that the now deceased owner's brother is still alive, Kate sets off on a quest to track him down, and inform him of his newfound inheritance. I'm eager to play more.Originally released way back in 2002, Syberia followed the tale of American lawyer, Kate Walker, whose most recent case involved the seemingly simple sale of a toy factory following the death of its owner. I agree with the reviews that it isn't necessarily innovative, however I do think it's very ambitious and introduces some interesting storytelling mechanics. The puzzles aren't a focus of this game, so if you're in it for that. It's different from the first 3 in how cinematic and social it becomes, more in line with the modern adventure titles like Life is Strange. The story felt directionless at first, with a motive I frankly find very weak - but I think it's starting to come together. I don't know what to tell you! It's beautiful, they clear up some weirdness from 3 super early on, this game just keeps surprising me. The story of the games certainly went places in Syberia 3 and I was honestly shocked they're leaving it canon and continuing on. I'm a fan of the series, mostly in love with Benoit Sokal's gorgeous worlds and all the automaton designs. So, I pounced on this game the millisecond I could. The experience, however, leaves something to be desired when it comes to innovation, making the game a must-buy only for fans of the series. Syberia - The World Before is a return to form for the series, and an all-around solid adventure game featuring an engaging story that nicely blends together two different timelines, charming characters and good puzzle design. Syberia: The World Before gave me back that sense of wonder that I felt, twenty years ago, with the first two episodes and, for this reason alone, for me it is a "yes" as big as an apartment building. ![]() The Games Machine - Paolo Besser - Italian - 9 / 10 Well attached to its inspirations and classic patterns in terms of narration and game design, Syberia The World Before is a very good point and click adventure, and a great tribute to Benoit Sokal. Spaziogames - Marcello Paolillo - Italian - 7.8 / 10 Visually wondrous and full of logical, fair puzzles and likable characters, this is a worthy entry in the series, despite a jarring conclusion and some rather poor performance. It is still a very good production, which should satisfy primarily fans. It does not do anything innovative, it shallows the adventure pedigree, but it is played wonderfully. It's just that the bar has been set so high that it's hard to jump over. Siberia: The World Before is rather the weakest installment of the cycle, but this absolutely does not mean that it is a bad game. Robert Chełstowski - Polish - 8.5 / 10 So we are dealing with the closing of a chapter and saying goodbye to the wonderful world. ![]() Siberia: The World Before was released after the death of Benoît Sokal. Sokal's latest work continues the story that began with the legendary first chapter and will drag us on a personal and introspective journey, dotted with suggestive sequences and intriguing puzzles. ![]()
